Wildcard characters for searching

The wildcards characters, ?-*!<>@()[]{}, helps you to find character patterns in the text instead of specific character sequences. Wildcard searches are always case sensitive, meaning that upper and lowercase letters differ. They are often used to perform complex search-and-replace operations, and to validate that text data is well-formed.

You can search for text from the Navigation pane or from the Find And Replace dialog box. The Find and Replace dialog box is modeless, so you can edit your document without closing the dialog box. A modeless dialog box is one that you can leave open on screen while you continue to work in the application. Most dialog boxes are modal, which means that you have to dismiss them before you can do any more work in the application.
